cool foods to eat in summer season

cool foods to eat in summer
With the heat levels rising to new highs everyday, summer seems to completely drain us out. Temperatures have been scorching high and humidity levels have escalated to between 70 and 80 per cent. Most of us feel dehydrated and low on energy in such a climate and we look for ways to cool ourselves. Our body needs cooling foods that will balance our diet and keep our energy levels stable.

1. Curd/ yogurt : Curd is a delicious coolant. You can make delicious - chilled spicy buttermilk, a glass of lassi or chachh and raita. You can also add fruits to the curds to make a lip-smacking and wholesome dessert or prepare dips during the summer season.

2. Coconut water : An inexpensive coconut is full of health benefits and has wonderful cooling properties. It is laden with simple sugars, electrolytes and essential minerals which help keep the body well hydrated. In addition to that, there is evidence to suggest that coconut water has cancer fighting and anti-ageing properties as well.

3. Watermelon : Another fruit that can help you keep cool. We are not suggesting you to buy the chopped watermelon slices sold by the roadside vendors. In fact, they should never be consumed if you want to avoid the risk of a diarrhoea infection. Bring home a watermelon, cool it and have lots of it to benefit from the antioxidants present in this delicious fruit.

4. Onions : Onions have amazing cooling properties. You can add it to your curries, dips, raitas, salads and chutneys to help keep you cool. The red onions, in particular, are very rich in quercetin, which is a natural anti-allergen. Having lots of onions can provide you protection against sunstroke.

5. Lime water : The simple lime water or nimboo pani is not only refreshing, it also has health benefits for you. You can have it sweet, salted or add a dash of black salt and cumin powder to it. Have it chilled and beat the heat.

6. Cucumber : This crunchy vegetable costs little, has lots of fibre that can help keep constipation at bay. It can make each of your bites crunchier and help you stay cool as a cucumber!

Things You Should Eat To Beat This Summer Season

Summer Season
In India, summers are very hot especially in northern parts of the country. It is very important to take proper diet in summers to keep the body cool and keep diseases like dehydration, vomiting, diarrhea, etc. at bay. However, foods that seem like chill choices may have the opposite effect. According to traditional Chinese medicine, there exist “warming foods” and “cooling foods.” "It is said that the cooling foods help to clear heat and toxins from the body, whereas the warming foods increase circulation and vital energy,” explains Kerry Bajaj, a certified health coach at Eleven Eleven Wellness Center in New York City. Reach for the following eight foods this summer for some sweet, healthy relief.

Sunny Leone Diet Tips for Summer 2016

Sunny Leone Diet Tips

Sunny Leone is not at all a promoter of eating less or starving to maintain a great body. She likes to balance her meals and follows some simple principles that help her maintain her beauty and great body shape. Have a look at some of the diet tips that this stunning actress adopts herself that can be beneficial for you too. Implementing these tips in your own diet is purely at your discretion.

Speaking about her diet, the actress said, “I like to balance my meals. I am not a fan of either eating less or starving. I avoid packaged or frozen food, and ensure that the meals I eat are made from fresh ingredients. If you are addicted to coffee, opt for black rather than coffee with milk. If I am hungry between meals, I eat egg whites and toast, or dry fruits.”

“I grew up in a quintessential Punjabi home and ate Indian food every single day” Sunny Leone On Food & Kitchen

  • Drinking coconut water on a regular basis can surely help you feel refreshed and it will add glow to your face.
  • Adding milk to complement your meals is another tip that can help you feel energized and keep you hydrated. Complementing your breakfast with milk is a better option than having milk after dinner as some people face difficulties in digesting milk in the night.
  • Whenever you have a choice, eat fresh vegetables and avoid frozen or packaged food options.
  • Stay away from junk food. It will only keep your taste buds happy in the short run, but in the long run, it will ruin all your fitness efforts.
  • If you can’t give up your addiction for coffee, then opt for black coffee and keep its intake at a minimum level too.
  • You can opt for consuming 100 calorie snacks between meals to keep yourself from eating a hefty meal and adding unwanted calories to your body.
  • Carrying a water bottle to keep your body hydrated is also a wise step. It will make you feel good and would simultaneously, remove all the toxins from your body.
And at last, I want to wish Sunny Leone a very Happy birthday

You are respected and loved for being you. Cheers!!!
